biodiversity[生物多樣化]

The term ‘biodiversity’ is a shortening [縮短的版本] of the expression ‘biological diversity’. It refers to the variety of all life forms [各種類的生物形式] on our planet, from trees to rice and roses. It also covers rain forests, oceans and deserts, various environments and ecosystems [生態系統] where forms of life depend on each other [各種生物相互依賴].

Protecting the variety of life on Earth, of biological diversity, is considered so important that the international community [國際社區] has agreed a United Nations convention [聯合國大會] or treaty [協定] on biodiversity.

例句:

The mining project threatens one of the world's richest areas of biodiversity.

採礦的計劃威脅到世界上生物多樣化最豐富的地區。

Biodiversity is the result of 3.5 billion years of evolution.

生物多樣化是演化三十五億年來的結果
